Catalog description

This course introduces three key tools in data analysis: R, the most popular free software environment for statistical computing, graphics, and data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. It will teach students about basic features of these key tools, knowledge and skills of how to use these tools, interpret statistical results generated from the tools, and write methods and results in an academic and professional way. It will cover a variety of essential statistical procedures, including descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, MANOVA, correlation, regression, reliability analysis, and factor analysis. The course will employ project-based teaching approach and allow students to work on research projects that they are interested in by using their own data or the data provided by the instructor. Prerequisite: EPSY 810 or EPSY 811 or equivalent course.
