English - Intro to Rhetoric &Composition

Catalog description
Introduces students to rhetoric and composition, a field that investigates questions about the nature, processes, teaching and historical, social and cultural contexts of writing. Students survey the themes, debates, and trends that inform the work of scholars in this field. Students also become acquainted with the historical traditions of discourse instruction, and the relevance of those traditions to our current understandings of writing. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or consent of the instructor. Recommended: Prior completion of one 200-level English course. Satisfies: Arts and Humanities (AH) , Goal 3 Arts and Humanities (GE3H)
