Catalog description

Skillful teachers deliberately develop learner-centered designs—for lessons and courses, classroom norms and routines, etc.—that account for the complexities of the learning environment, and involve learners, colleagues, and caregivers as co-designers. They step back from the immediate demands of their situation to reflect, gather input about what matters most, frame the problem from the learners’ perspective, and develop experiments from which they can test out assumptions, ideas and practices. Throughout the program, you will have practiced one or more steps in the design cycle, and received feedback about your designs. In this competency, you will engage in an entire design cycle for a new problem or a second iteration for a previous design problem. Domain G: Professional Learning.
