Biotechnology - Forensic Techniques I

Catalog description

This is one of two laboratory courses designed to provide hands-on experience with fundamental forensic science techniques and methodologies. This course covers essential areas of forensic investigation related to primary physical evidence including: fingerprinting, impression evidence (footprints and tire track analysis), microscopy (hair, fiber, and trace evidence), ballistics and tool marks, serology (blood pattern analysis and body fluid testing), and the basics of forensic pathology and anthropology (using and analyzing human remains). Students will engage in practical exercises that simulate real-world forensic scenarios, developing critical skills in evidence collection, preservation, analysis, and interpretation. Prerequisite: CRIM 355.
