This course provides an introduction to interpreting as an occupation. Students will come to understand the history of interpreting along with the importance of interpersonal communication skills, professional ethics, parameters of responsibilities, community resources and legal ramifications as they relate to the interpreter. This course is offered at the 500 and 700 level with additional assignments at the 700 Level. Not open to students with credit in ASLD 701. Prerequisite: ASLD 505 with a minimum grade of "C" or instructor approval.
