Catalog description

Students in the course will learn about the world of the deaf in America, deaf culture, the education of deaf children, useful technology, and the integration of deaf people into the American society. This introductory course is for students interested in fields, such as audiology; speech-language pathology; medicine; education; school, rehabilitation and mental health counseling; psychology; interpreting; ASL and deaf studies; and for anyone with a deaf person in his or her life. This course is offered at the 300 and 700 level with additional assignments at the 700 Level. Not open to students with credit in ASLD 711. (Same as SPLH 311.) Satisfies: Goal 4 Outcome 1 (AE41)
