Catalog description

This course provides an overview of microorganisms and their impact on human health. Students will learn how to identify common human pathogens including prokaryotic organisms, eukaryotic organisms, viruses, and prions. The microbiological principles of taxonomy, genetics, immunology, and epidemiology will be explored as they relate to health care settings and the prevention of the spread of microbial pathogens.
