Catalog description
This course provides the student with experiences that continue the development of the nurse's role as provider and member of the health care team with focus on the role of manager of culturally diverse clients. This course facilitates the student's synthesis of learning by incorporating the role of the professional nurse as provider, manager, and member of the nursing profession in the care of the client with complex health care needs across the lifespan. The student will provide care within the ethical and legal parameters of nursing. Also, the student will continue to build upon the curriculum threads, utilizing the nursing process for critical thinking/clinical decision making, effective communication, and the teaching-learning process to assist clients in meeting multiple health care needs. Emphasis will be placed on, but not limited to, the concepts of acid/base, fluid/electrolytes, infection, inflammation, intracranial regulation, metabolism, mobility, oxygenation, perfusion, professionalism, sensory perception, thermoregulation and tissue integrity. ~
