CLINICAL portion of NURS 170: This course introduces the art and science of nursing utilizing the principles of the nursing process, QSEN competencies, and the NCSBN test plan. This introductory course focuses on basic nursing concepts, skills, and attitudes to provide safe and competent care across the lifespan while integrating personal preferences of the patient. Some concepts include professional identity, health promotion, culture, health care law, clinical judgement, patient education and fluid and electrolytes. Students will gain knowledge in pharmacology related to specific disease processes. The clinical portion of the course introduces assessment, communication, and select psychomotor skills practice in preparation for clinical and simulation practice. Successful completion of LPN to RN transition courses permits the non-collegiate LPN to advance to the second year of the ADN program. Upon completion of LPN to RN Transition courses and third semester courses the student is awarded credit for the following Nursing courses: 112, 122,132 and 142.
