Catalog description
This course utilizes the art and science of nursing including the principles of the nursing process, QSEN competencies, and the NCSBN test plan to acquire knowledge, skills, and attitudes in the care of women, children, and families. Some concepts include growth and development, sexuality and reproduction, culture, self-management, health disparities, health promotion, family dynamics, mood and cognition, and homeostasis and regulation. Students will gain knowledge in pharmacology related to healthcare of women and children. The clinical portion of this course introduces and implements clinical reasoning skills. It continues the practice and application of assessment, communication, and psychomotor skills in practice settings focusing on healthcare needs of women, children, and the family.
