CLINICAL portion of NURS 112: This course introduces the art and science of nursing utilizing the principles of the nursing process, QSEN competencies, and the NCSBN test plan. This introductory course focuses on basic nursing concepts, skills, and attitudes to provide safe and competent care across the lifespan while integrating personal preferences of the patient. Some concepts include legal, ethical, culture, spirituality, nutrition, asepsis, infection, and elimination. Students will gain an introduction in pharmacological concepts, enabling them to understand how drugs affect the human body. The clinical portion of the course introduces assessment, communication, and select psychomotor skills in practice and simulation labs in preparation for clinical practice.
