Emphasis on scientific inquiry through selected concepts in plant biology, such as organization, function, heredity, evolution, and ecology. Topics will include a survey of plant diversity and related groups, including cyanobacteria, algae and fungi, plant anatomy and physiology, reproduction and growth, genetics, evolution, ecology and economic importance, and interrelationship between plants and humans. Extensive use of the college's herbarium collection and natural areas will supplement the learning experience. A practical course for those intrigued by plant life. This is a transfer course that fulfills the laboratory science requirement. Students who are pregnant or may become pregnant during the course of the semester are strongly advised to consult their doctor before enrolling in this course. ~
