Animals and Society

Catalog description

This course is designed to fulfill a general education laboratory science requirement. Emphasizes scientific inquiry through selected concepts in biology, such as organization, function, heredity, evolution, and ecology, using animals as the type of organism. Topics include cell and molecular biology, animal structure, physiology, development, evolution, ecology, genetics, reproduction, behavior, and conservation. A special emphasis is made on the relationships between humans and the diversity of animals worldwide. Development of Science literacy will be a foundation of this course so that students can make informed decisions. Any student who is pregnant or may become pregnant during the course of the semester is strongly advised to consult their doctor before enrolling in this course.
