This course will explore all of the ways in which human beings lived in the past. Evaluate artifacts and features recovered from archaeological records, including monumental architecture, the rise of agriculture, early cities and settlements, early writing systems, religious structures, athletic venues, and more. Describethe methods used in archaeological excavation, recovery, and inventory. Introduce concepts and theories used to reconstruct and analyze cultural history and prehistory. Usematerial culture to understand how groups of people change over time and why. Evaluatethe history of archaeology as a science and seeks to understand how issues of the past inform the ethical guidelines for archaeologists today.
