Economic Explorations in American History

Catalog description

This course seeks to explain American history through the lens of economics. Emphasis is placed on how changing economic modes of production influenced outcomes at the societal level. In each episode, students focus on the relevant economic background and institutional structure and then deduce how this in turn informed historical change in activities ranging from agriculture, household production, industrialization, social movements, political response and the new information economy. Prerequisite(s): ECON1001 or ECON1002 , ENG1021 or ENG1027 , any ILS2000-level course, senior status. Offered at Charlotte 3 Semester Credits
