Students in this course discuss the role of historical and modern privilege, prejudice, discrimination and racism in shaping the current health and healthcare environment. Students learn how discriminatory policies and practices, past and present, from the individual to the structural level, negatively impact population physical and mental health throughout the life course and lead to health inequities. Students also discuss the effectiveness of efforts and interventions to reverse these trends. Offered at Providence 3 Semester Credits
