This course is a survey and analysis of United States history and those institutions that contributed to the evolution of the American nation since Reconstruction. Emphasis is on the rise of industrialization, urbanization and immigration; the coming of imperialism; the development of American foreign policy; the rise of big business; the growth of reform movements as seen in Populism, Progressivism and the New Deal; the Women's Movement; the Civil Rights Movement; and recent developments. Prerequisite(s): ENG1020 or ENG1024 or English placement. Offered at Charlotte, Providence 3 Semester Credits
