Catalog description

This course explores how assessment and resulting data are used to guide and inform instruction. Students use formative assessment as a tool to effectively monitor, respond to, and develop student learning. Participants examine how students think and develop skills in their discipline and design lessons that strategically use formative assessment strategies to assess learning and guide instruction. Participants implement a lesson applying formative assessment and collaboratively reflect upon the lesson with peers in order to improve their practice. Emphasis is given to the use of rubrics, grading practices and the effective use of technology strategies to assist in the process of formative assessment. Prerequisite(s): EDUC5130 . Offered at Providence 3 Semester Credits
