Catalog description

The basis of this course is the application of foundational knowledge to examine, evaluate, diagnose and plan an intervention session for a child/adolescent/young adult (age birth to 22) with neuromuscular dysfunction. The overarching goals of this course are to develop student’s clinical decision-making, the ability to determine a prognosis, and direct goal setting, treatment planning, patient/client instruction and resource management. Concepts and knowledge covered in previous coursework in the JWU DPT program is built upon in this course with emphasis on anatomy, neuroanatomy, physiology, pharmacology, ICF/BS models, motor control and learning, movement analysis, the movement system, and typical development of postural control and mobility.
