Catalog description

This course focuses on the fundamentals of designing for different manufacturing processes with an emphasis on material selection, manufacturing considerations, designing for assembly, quality, and life cycle engineering. The lectures are augmented with laboratory exercises highlighting tolerancing, assembly, and manufacturability, and include an industry related project where students design a product, generate a prototype, and obtain feedback concerning feasibility and manufacturability. Proficient use of 3D Modeling Software is a requirement for this course.
