Students are encouraged to take CHE 175 concurrently but are not required to. This is a completely online class. This course requires you to have a Webcam and microphone so that the exams can be proctored using Respondus Monitor and LockDown Browser, https://web.respondus.com/student-help/. Your instructor may also announce times that she will proctor exams on the Southwest or possibly DT campus. This course also requires you to have speakers to be able to listen to posted videos. The ability to print and scan (recommend Microsoft OneDrive app) will also be highly useful. Students must logon to http://elearning.kctcs.edu/ for instruction on accessing their course content. Although the class is online, your instructor has an office at the DT and SW campus. Please check the syllabus for available open house/office hours where you can meet with your instructor in-person or virtually. Questions are expected! We want you to be successful in this course and encourage you to use the academic support services available to you. Your instructor wants to help you, so please be sure to reach out to her when needed! Note this class will easily require the twelve or more hours each week that a four-credit hour class should take on average (four hours spent ¿in class¿ and eight to twelve hours of study time on average outside of class). This time could be spent in various ways including, but not limited to reading the text, preparing reading logs and answering quizzes over the reading, watching videos with embedded quiz questions, working on team activities, completing online homework assignments, working exams, and so on. Please be aware that you will not be able to complete all work on a smartphone, tablet, or Chromebook (even using the BlackBoard app). You will need regular access to a computer. All campus Learning Commons have computers available for student use. This course uses ALEKS by McGraw Hill. A course charge for the digital content (access to the textbook and the required on-line homework) is applied in addition to tuition when enrollment in the class occurs.
