Frontiers of Astronomy

Catalog description
Covers the life histories of stars, the nature of black holes and quasars, the origin of the universe, planets of the solar system, and the possibilities for extraterrestrial life. Includes observation-based activities. A one-semester introductory course for non-science majors. Credit is not given to students who have received credit for AST 191 or AST 192 . Lecture: 3 credits (45 contact hours).

It is highly recommended that students have two years of high school algebra or 110MT or 120MT prior to taking this class. This is a course for astronomy and science majors and non-science majors. Credit is not given to students who have received credit for AST 191 or AST 192. Hybrid Course - This section has both an in person and online component. Students enrolling in this section must have reliable access to a computer with Internet capabilities and a video camera (webcam or smart phone camera). Students must logon to http://elearning.kctcs.edu/ for instruction on accessing their course site.
