Catalog description

Prerequisites: PSY101 or PSY101H with a minimum grade of a "C" and reading proficiency Psychopathology and Mental Health is an introductory survey of the spectrum of psychological and behavioral health from wellness and resilience to dysfunction and psychopathology based on diagnostic criteria from the current American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. This course includes an empirically based biopsychosocial review of signs, symptoms, etiology, prevention, and treatment of these disorders, as well as an overview of historical/sociocultural definitions, prevalence, research methods, ethical/legal issues, clinical assessment, and classification of psychopathology.
