Prerequisite: Admission to Bi-Level Nursing Program and reading proficiency Co-requisite: PNE149 This course introduces basic mental health disorders and focuses on the role of the practical nurse as a provider of care to clients along the mental health/illness continuum. The mental health/illness continuum is presented as a framework for differentiating between adaptive and maladaptive behaviors. A strong emphasis is placed on behavioral management techniques, therapeutic communication, and safety measures in the care of the client experiencing acute or chronic mental illness. (F).
