Lyric Diction I: Engl-Italian

Prerequisite: Permission of instructor Corequisites: MSA001, MSA002; and MSA171, MSA181, MSA271, or MSA281 Lyric Diction I: English and Italian will develop proficiency in lyric diction for the aspiring singer or music educator. The course will explore phonetics, enunciation, and transcription of English and Italian as applied to lyric diction. Focus will be on the basics of the International Phonetic Alphabet with particular emphasis on practical application through critical listening and performance. (F)
