Law Enforcement Internship

Prerequisite: Admission to the Law Enforcement Academy and reading proficiency Law Enforcement Internship for Academy students is a supervised training experience in all facets of the law enforcement environment. Students are immersed in the law enforcement environment throughout the academy experience. Students complete mandatory ride along hours, community service hours, and court observation hours outside of the scheduled academy classroom hours. During the academy, students wear uniforms, duty web gear, soft body armor, participate in inspections and expected to maintain law enforcement demeanor. Students write a number of papers related to stress in law enforcement and National Law Enforcement Memorial video series. This course uses the current Missouri Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) curriculum and objectives. (D)
