Catalog description
Prerequisites: Reading proficiency and one of the following math requirements: 3.0+ HS GPA within 7 years MTH002 with a grade of "C" or better ACT math score of 18+ within two years Accuplacer Next Gen advanced algebra functions score of 230+ within two years Accuplacer Next Gen quantitative reasoning score of 230+ within two years Accuplacer elementary algebra test score of 75+ within two years Concepts in Chemistry explores the fundamental concepts of chemistry and chemical bases for everyday events. Included are discussions of the scientific method and measurement, the laws of conservation, chemical bonding, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, and how chemistry can be used to understand processes encountered in everyday life and the environment. This course does not fulfill the prerequisite requirements for CHM111 or the Veterinary Technology program. Concepts in Chemistry is not recommended for those pursuing a career in one of the science or technology fields. Students cannot apply both CHM101 and CHM102 toward graduation.
