Catalog description

This course gives students the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of everyday life in public spaces by learning to observe how these spaces are designed, used and enjoyed. Regardless of whether a student has prior experience with qualitative research or simply loves to "people watch," all will gain a deeper understanding of public life studies as a type of research. Opportunities to practice direct observation and documentation skills in a public setting are embedded in the course.
