Catalog description

This course examines the political thought of James Madison (1751-1836). Madison was a profound political thinker who read voraciously, thought deeply, and wrote eloquently and carefully about many of the leading political questions of his day - and ours. In this class, we will read, understand and critically assess what Madison contributed to these political dialogues and more generally to the American political tradition.
