The Ideas and Legacies of Medieval and Renaissance Political Theory

Catalog description

This course is a study of the ideas, principles and legacy of political theory as developed within the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Among others, and with some variation, works by St. Augustine, Alfarabi, Maimonides, St. Thomas Aquinas, Dante, Marsiglio of Padua, Christine de Pizan, Marsiglio Ficino and Machiavelli will be read. Other figures may also be covered, time permitting.
