Maternal, Infant and Child Nutrition

Catalog description

This course examines the anatomical, physiological and biochemical changes and processes that occur during pregnancy, fetal development, lactogenesis, and growth and development of the infant. Students assess perinatal environmental and nutritional risk factors and participate in collaborative health care interventions. Students will understand the relationships among nutrition, growth and development during childhood and adolescence. Nutritional assessment for normal and high-risk groups is discussed as well as the psychological, social and economic factors that contribute to nutritional status.
