Catalog description

This course is designed for future elementary and middle school teachers to develop mathematical knowledge for teaching by deeply examining concepts in mathematics including: strategies for proving geometric arguments, properties of and relationships among geometric figures (particularly right triangles leading to basic trigonometric functions), geometric transformations, and geometric constructions. Problem solving, reasoning, representation, connections and communication form the foundation through which learning will take place.
