Catalog description

The course will focus on the Latina/o/x populations in the United States and how the category of 'Latino' came into existence. Furthermore, students will learn how Latina/o/x identity has evolved over time as well as become politically salient within 21st century politics. The goal is for the student to develop a broad, conceptual understanding of how the term 'Latino' came into existence as well as how individuals who identify as 'Latina/o/x' have politically organized throughout history.
