Catalog description

This course equips sport coaches with the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to effectively administer strength and conditioning programs within their coaching environments. Designed for adult learners, the course blends strategic thinking with practical, day-to-day coaching challenges. Learners will explore multifaceted problems of practice such as injury prevention, load management and long-term athlete development, and apply evidence-based solutions in real-world contexts. Through cognitive apprenticeships and applied tasks, coaches will develop a nuanced understanding of strength and conditioning, including how to integrate physical training into sport settings, communicate its value and adapt to athlete needs. The course emphasizes self-directed learning, contextual decision making and tangible takeaways that coaches can immediately apply in their practice.
