Catalog description

This course is a holistic approach to the nature of technological innovation as an intrinsic dynamic of human society, with an explicit focus on understanding why innovations succeed or fail and the compelling need for sustainable design. The critical relationship between technical innovation and the design process is explored through case studies that illustrate sustainability-inspired models of technology such as biomimicry, design for environment, appropriate technology, zero waste production systems and human-centered design.
