Catalog description

This course traces the intellectual, technical, mechanical and scientific developments that had a profound effect on the ways people saw and understood their world from 1880-1914. The course explores peoples' relationships to the environment; state structures; and turn-of-the-century revolutionary political, economic and cultural ideas with a focus on Europe, the US and the impact of "western" technological change on the world.
