Catalog description

This course adopts a case study approach to explore a series of environmental hazards (e.g., ozone depletion, El Niño, abrupt climate change) as examples of risk management. For each case, students will learn the scientific principles underlying the hazard and examine how social and economic policies can be developed and implemented to mitigate the perceived risk.
