Catalog description

This course introduces the fundamental and governing principles of systems of forces acting on rigid bodies, beams and columns as well as the analysis of truss, frame and machine structures. Topics include external and internal equilibrium of rigid bodies; systems of force and moment vectors; centroids; friction; loading that results in uniaxial, shear, flexure and torsion stresses and strains; and strength of materials. ENGR 212 and ENGR 212L must be taken concurrently.
