Advanced study of the literary treatment of an organizing theme, which may be framed broadly as part of the human experience or within a tradition of studies in the humanities. Course content may include pertinent readings from other disciplines. Possible themes: love, death, nature, evil, the comic spirit. May be repeated as course topic changes.
