Catalog description

Provides the student an opportunity to study many forms of mental disorders and abnormalities. Students will be presented with the major theoretical perspectives in terms of causation and treatment of these disorders. Students will study, evaluate, and apply the following approaches: psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive, behavioral, and biological. Included also will be the classification of personality and behavior disturbances as defined by the current edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. Additionally, examples of the current therapeutic techniques will be presented. Offered: Summer, Fall, Spring Transfer: TAG, TM Prerequisites: PSY 1010 or SOC 1010 .
