Catalog description

Provides opportunities for students to apply the nursing process in the care of adult patients experiencing common health alterations. Major emphasis is placed on human needs related to oxygenation, hydration, skin and tissue integrity, and physiological safety, with a focus on understanding the characteristics and responses of the adult individual across diverse clinical situations. Evidence-based practice, research-informed decision-making, and critical thinking remain central to the development of safe and effective nursing care. Building upon previously acquired knowledge from general education, applied general education, and foundational nursing coursework, students further integrate concepts of leadership, professional communication, and collaboration within the healthcare team. The course also introduces the impact of community health factors on adult patient outcomes, reinforcing the nurse's role in promoting health across settings. Clinical learning experiences in structured environments allow students to demonstrate psychomotor competence, apply clinical judgment, and provide safe, patient-centered care to adults with increasingly complex needs.
