Catalog description
This course is an introduction to the constitutional law of the United States of America, with an emphasis on the decisions of the United States Supreme Court. This course will explore various methodologies of constitutional interpretation and modes of constitutional analysis. Topics covered include the history of the Articles of Confederation, the history of the Constitution of the United States, the role of the judiciary, the separation of powers and relations among the federal branches of government, the powers of the national government and federalism based on Congress and the states and individual constitutional rights. The projects will include writing three (3) case briefs, one (1) memorandum of law and one (1) memorandum of points and authorities.
