PREREQUISITES: Demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or earning a grade of “C” or better in: ENGL 093 Introduction to College Writing and ENGL 083 Reading Strategies for College Or ENGL 095 Integrated Reading and Writing or ENGL 075 Co-Requisite Integrated Reading and Writing PRE/COREQUISITES: COREQUISITES: CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This course provides a big-picture look at how the American legal system works and why law matters in everyday life. Students will explore three broad areas: how the legal system is organized, how to research and analyze the law, and the fundamentals of major legal fields such as constitutional rights, contracts, torts, property, and criminal law. The course builds a strong foundation for advanced legal studies while strengthening skills in critical thinking, research, and professional communication that are valuable in many careers.
