PREREQUISITES: None. CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Studies the fundamentals of thermodynamics and reactions occurring in metals subjected to various kinds of heat treatment. Includes classification and properties of metals, chemical and physical metallurgy, theory of alloys, heat treatment principles as applied to ferrous and non-ferrous materials, test to determine uses, heat treatment for steels, special steels, and cast iron, powder metallurgy, and use of gas and electric furnaces and their controls.
