PREREQUISITES: HUMS 101 Introduction to Human Services, HUMS 102 Helping Relationship Techniques and demonstrated competency through appropriate assessment or earning a grade of “C” or better in ENGL 083 Reading Strategies for College and ENGL 093 Introduction to College Writing, or ENGL 095 Integrated Reading and Writing, or ENGL 075 Co-Requisite Integrated Reading and Writing. CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This course examines environments, materials, activities, group skills, and strategies which foster the development of youth and families. The use of observation and group skills in meeting the comprehensive needs of youth and families is explored. Techniques which promote positive relationships, community building, effective communication, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills are reviewed. Students will develop, implement, and assess appropriate activities focusing on content and curriculum.
