PREREQUISITES: HLHS 102 Essential Anatomy or APHY 101 Anatomy and Physiology and and HLHS 101 Medical Terminology COREQUISITES: HLHS 102 Essential Anatomy and Physiology or APHY 101 Anatomy and Physiology and HLHS 101 Medical Terminology CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Introduces general pharmacology for health-related professions including an overview of the history of drugs, federal and state regulations for the prescribing and distribution of therapeutic drugs, drug classifications, routes of administration, and how to use printed and electronic sources of drug information. Emphasis will be given to selected drugs in various drug classifications to develop student understanding of the use, side-effects, contraindications, and potential drug interactions that are unique to each drug.
