Catalog description

The course will introduce the student to the disease process and aspects of caring for a resident with Dementia. This course will include instruction about treating the patient with Dementia as a person, medical treatment of Dementia, the importance of proper communication, making the environment safe for a person with Dementia, including the family in caring for the client with Dementia as well as how to plan activities that are meaningful and fun for the patient with Dementia. The course will meet all of the requirements outlined in the Indiana State Department of Health regulations of health care workers in long-term care facilities.
