PREREQUISITES: HIMT 101 Introduction to Health Information Technology, HIMT 102 Healthcare Data Content and Structure, HIMT 210 Pathophysiology and Pharmacology. CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Introduces Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding as applied in facility and physician perspectives. Includes general content, coding guidelines, and the role of CPT coding in healthcare reimbursement. Applies codes to basic medical and surgical services including the use of modifiers. Ethical coding and compliance issues are emphasized.
