PREREQUISITES: HIMT 101 Introduction to Health Information Technology; HIMT 102 Health Data Content and Structure; HIMT 200 Basic ICD Coding; HIMT 210 Pathophysiology and Pharmacology. COREQUISITIES: HIMT 210 Pathophysiology and Pharmacology. CATALOG DESCRIPTION: Includes International Classification of Diseases (ICD) assignment and sequencing of codes in accordance with approved guidelines and requires the student to apply and expand the knowledge gained from the Basic ICD Coding course with completing more advanced cases utilizing encoder software. The student will develop critical-thinking skills by using current references to research coding questions and issues.
