Prerequisites:Program Chair Approval Corequisites: Pre/Corequisites: Description:This course examines reading instruction, adolescent literature, scientifically-based resources, instructional development and delivery for middle/high school students. This course focuses on science of reading theory and implementation in the secondary classroom, the traditional and nontraditional aspects of literacy, such as classic works, technical sources for the specific content areas. The benefits and rewards to literature will be discussed – enjoyment, aesthetics, comprehension strategies, imagination, cognition, language, multicultural integration, as well as, the development of the love of reading.
